Abstract

Abstract Background : Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) in Indonesia in 2015 was 305 per 100,000 births life, the main cause is the high blood preasure in pregnancy (32%) and bleeding after childbirth (20%). The pain of labor in primigravida can cause increase eccessive anxiety, stimulates parasympathetic system increases ketokolamin levels which can cause contraction disorders and ends a long parturition wich causes post partum bleeding. Anxiety of labor can be handled well with non pharmacological methods of relaxation aromatherapy lavender. Objective : To find out the effect of lavender aromatherapy relaxation on the length labor in primigravida in the Panglima Sebaya hospital . Design : The design of this research is Quasi experiment with a Non- Equivalent Control Group approach, the study population was primigravida. The sampling technique is purposive sampling with the Lemeshow formula of 22 people. Results : There is an effect of lavender aromatherapy relaxation on the duration of the first stage of labor with the everage difference of 2.1545 hours, whereas in the second stage the everage is 6.2727 minutes. Conclusion : Lavender aromatherapy relaxation can reduce maternal anxiety, thus making the labor process more vulnerable. Keywords : Aromatherapy lavender, duration of labor
