Abstract

Abstract Background: One of the Puskesmas in Kutai Kartanegara District where the incidence of pregnant women suffering from hypertension is quite high located in the working area of the Prangat Puskesmas. The emotional instability of pregnant women with hypertension affects the anxiety level of pregnant women. Many efforts can be done to reduce anxiety, one of which is in the form of nonpharmacology in the intervention of deep breathing relaxation techniques. Deep breathing relaxation is slow, slow, rhythmic, comfortable breathing of the abdomen by closing the eyes when inhaling. The effect of this therapy is distraction or distraction. Objective: To determine the effect of deep breathing relaxation techniques on anxiety in pregnant women with hypertension at Prangat Puskesmas, Kutai Kartanegara Regency. Design: This type of research is experimental research using quasi experimental. One group research approach is pre-test and post-test design without using a comparison (control) group. The population in this study were patients with hypertensive pregnant women in the Prangat Health Center in Kutai Kartanegara Regency totaling 18 people. Data analysis using paired sampel t test. Result: The average score of anxiety levels in pregnant women with hypertension before performing deep breathing relaxation techniques is 15.89 with criteria of mild and moderate anxiety, each of which amounted to 9 people (50%). Then after performing deep breathing relaxation techniques decreased to 11.22, with the criteria of most mild anxiety levels amounted to 9 people (50%), then there were no symptoms amounted to 5 people (27.8%) and moderate anxiety levels amounted to 4 people ( 22.2%). Conclusion: There is an effect of deep breathing relaxation techniques on anxiety in pregnant women with hypertension. Keywords: Deep Breath Relaxation, Anxiety, Pregnant Women, Hypertension
